Black Women’s Expo 2018

Britt x Court take Black Women’s Expo (BWe) Chicago! This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the BWe at the McCormick Place and it was truly amazing! The BWe is an annual event that celebrates the aspirations and accomplishments of African-American women. From informative seminars and panel discussions on topics like health, beauty, fitness, career advancement and entrepreneurship to demos and hundreds of different vendors, the expo seriously gave us life! The expo offers something for every member of the family.

We attended the BWe with intentions on networking and learning how to improve our brand and to check out local small businesses in the Chicagoland area. Our day started with us attending the seminar Lip Service Live: An Unfiltered Adult Conversation about Sex & Relationships, hosted by Angela Lee, Lore’l, Gigi Maguire, Black Ink Crew Chicago, Dr. Maya Green and Dr. T. This was a candid conversation about different sexual experiences but also served to educate the audience on public health issues concerning sexually transmitted diseases and prevention methods. Stay tuned for a more in depth post about this seminar coming soon to the blog!

We then headed over to check out the vendors and see what the latest trends and newest products were. Though it was a bit overwhelming at first, it was cool to get to see some of our favorite hair care brands like AsIAm Naturally and learn more about upcoming black businesses and entrepreneurs in Chicago. While we were there, we purchased the novel A Little Bit of Tail by Cherry, sunglasses, waist beads, head wraps and also got tons of samples.

For our first expo together, we really enjoyed ourselves! The expo brings you everything you love and everything you would like to explore more about in one setting. We learned so much about networking and how to promote our brand. We also met some amazing women who inspired us to pursue our passions and become our own girl bosses. The Black Women’s Expo is truly where…#SheMatters!

We definitely recommend checking out the Black Women’s Expo next year! You won’t be disappointed!

xo,
