Hello babes! Summer is here! Which means its time for crop tops, bikinis and snatched waists! Abs are made in the kitchen! You can do as many sit-ups as you want but if don’t have a wholesome, healthy diet they won’t be visible. The key is to eat foods that aid in digestion, decrease bloating and burn fat. Decreasing your body fat percentage will help you see the muscle definition you’ve work so hard for! These are some my favorite snacks that help keep my stomach on flat flat:
Berries are rich in antioxidants and fiber and help to cut belly fat. They are low cal and their water content aid to keep you fuller longer. My favorites are strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. I mix them together and have about a cup for snack!
Pineapples are a good source of bromelain, an enzyme that aids in digestion and can help prevent indigestion and bloating. I usually eat a cup of them for snack but when I’m feeling fancy, I’ll mix in a handful of blueberries. The ultimate flat tummy snack!
Grapefruits contain flavonoids which help the liver burn fat more efficiently. They are also low cal and a great source of fiber. I typically eat 1/2 of a grapefruit with breakfast or a whole one for my morning snack.
2 Eggs and 1/4 – 1/2 of an Avocado
Eggs are a great source of protein and help to build muscle and burn fat. While avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats, which control blood sugar and prevent fat storage. Together these two work to keep the fat at a minimum. I like to have this as a morning snack on days when I’m running late and only have a protein shake or green smoothie for breakfast.
Green smoothies have been one of my favorite meals and/or snacks for as long as I can remember. I like to incorporate kale and spinach in mine. Leafy greens are key in any diet because they are rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E (all of which target belly fat). I also add in greek yogurt, which has probiotics that aid in digestion and chia seeds, because they are a good source of fiber and improve insulin sensitivity.
My Favorite Green Smoothie Recipe:
10oz of water or coconut water
1 cup of spinach and/or kale
4 oz. plain greek yogurt (optional)
1/2 cup of blueberries or strawberries
1/2 cup of pineapple
1/2 of a banana
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
Drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and juice from 1/2 of a lemon in 8 oz of water every morning. I drink ACV daily and absolutely swear by it when it comes to fat loss!
Keep infused water with cucumber, lemon, lime, or berries and mint handy. Not only are they super refreshing during the summer, they keep you hydrated while suppressing your appetite.
